 | Information Platform on International Standards for SMEs in the Food Sector | | | Understanding International Food Standards | In the image on the right, five levels in the of pyramid of Food Quality and Safety standards are shown: legislation, codex alimentarius, ISO standards, private standards and codes of practice. All the standards on Food Quality and Safety have different requirements for documentation, monitoring, risk analysis, traceability, allergen monitoring, GMO handling et cetera. The major European Food Retailers require that their suppliers work with one or more of these standards. Unfortunately, choosing and implementing the food safety system that best suits a specific company, is not easy. | | | | | Why do we need standards? |
| | A standard is a documented agreement containing technical specifications or other precise criteria to be used consistently as rules, guidelines, or other definitions of characteristics, to ensure that materials, products, processes or services are fit for their purpose. |
| | They provide specifications and requirements to ensure that products and production conditions meet a minimum of (legal) safe guards and specific guarantees (i.e. BRC, IFS, GlobalGAP and Dutch HACCP scheme B) |
| | | What do we offer you?
| The INPLISTA-consortium aims to support small to medium size enterprises (SMEs) in the food sector with this choice by organising seminars on Food Safety Standards. In these seminars, information on the various existing standards (BRC Food, IFS Food, GlobalGap, Dutch HACCP, ...) is offered and The information provided is directed to meet the specific needs of small and medium food enterprises in order to improve their position in the European market-place and to keep up-to-date with current standards and requirements.
General information on food safety standards is available via this website and specific information will be provided at the seminars. | | The seminars offer you the opportunity to interact with your colleagues and the teachers in open discussions and to learn about food standards and specific issues related to food sectors and food issues, like:
